Open to filmmakers and writers embarking on their first feature length screenplay. Attendees will start from scratch and finish their screenplay in two months.
The workshop will comprise of 8 x 4 hour classes (once a week from November – December 2015)
The number of participants is limited. 15 students per class. All participants will be selected by Michael, based on material submitted and their CV.
Attendees should be familiar with screenwriting software and screenplay format.
Screenplays in this workshop will be based on personal experience. You don’t need to come with an idea already prepared, just an open mind and a notebook.
There is a weekly writing commitment to reach a final draft by the end of the 8-week course.
Introduction: What to write and why to write. Why from personal experience. Finding stories in our own lives. Each participant will propose three possible stories around which to build their screenplay and, together with Michael, will choose which one to develop.
Week 02 – 08:
Each week participants will present 12 to 15 pages of their screenplay to Michael and their peers and receive critical feedback. They will also hear the scripts of their classmates and Michael’s feedback on each script. By week 8 they should have completed the screenplay.
